• Insurance Agencies of Ohio

  Dunning Lathrop and Associates and Parrish McTeague Insurance Agency Inc each served the central Ohio area for decades prior to merging on January 1, 1994. To simplify names it was decided that Insurance Agencies of Ohio was a good way to describe the new entity. Dunning Lathrop and Associates was operated for many years by William W. Dunning. Mr. Dunning started his insurance career in 1953 and formed Dunning Lathrop and Associates in 1968. Mr. Dunning retired shortly after the merger of agencies. Parrish McTeague Insurance Agency Inc was formed when Max Parrish and Bill McTeague merged in the early 1980’s. Mr. Parrish was forced to retire in 1985 after a serious illness. Mr. McTeague left the agency to pursue other business interests soon thereafter. Ralph Guarasci joined the agency on Jan. 15, 1984 and assumed management duties after the departure of Mr. Parrish and Mr. McTeague. In March of 1993, Scott Egelhoff joined the agency and became producer of many of the Parrish McTeague accounts. Nuturing and growing these accounts as well as adding many more accounts, Scott has helped the agencies grow for over 15 years and was named part owner in 2003. H.F. Albers Insurance was founded in 1959. The Albers family operated the agency until the death of the founder in 1971. Ernest E. Dancer was hired in 1978 as the agency President. Mr. Dancer eventually purchased the agency from the Albers family in November 1982. The name was changed to Albers Dancer Insurance Agency Inc. in 1992. In 1996, Albers Dancer Insurance Agency became associated with Insurance Agencies of Ohio.

  Ralph Guarasci, CIC

  President

  Ralph joined Insurance Agencies of Ohio in 1981 and assumed management duties of the agency several years later. A Bishop Watterson and Ohio State University graduate, Ralph was a member of the OSU men’s golf team and in still a strong supporter of the program to this day. A 31 year insurance industry veteran, Ralph holds the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. In addition to being an expert witness in insurance legal cases, he is also a popular instructor for the Professional Independent Insurance Agents industry association. Ralph lives in Worthington with his wife Lynn. He has three children: Kelly, Katie and Dan and three grandchildren. Ralph is a member of the Worthington Hills Country Club and stills enjoys golfing.

  Scott Egelhoff, CIC

  Scott joined Insurance Agencies of Ohio in March of 1993. Scott has helped the agency grow for over 21 years and was named part owner in 2003. He specializes in construction, home health care, craft brewery, manufacturing, and personal insurance accounts. A Bishop Watterson graduate, Scott also holds degrees from Ohio State University and Franklin University. He also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor designation. He is active in coaching local softball teams including the teams of his daughters: Rachael, Callie and Maddie. Scott is an active volunteer for Our Lady of Peace (where he is the softball program’s Athletic Director) and he is a member of the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce.

  Ernie Dancer

  Ernie has been with Insurance Agencies of Ohio since 1996. An MBA graduate from Ohio Dominican University, Ernie has over 35 years experience in the insurance industry. Ernie is an adjunct professor at Ohio Dominican and Columbus State where he teaches insurance and finance courses. He specializes in insuring commercial businesses, with an emphasis on schools, universities, assisted living, and health care facilities. Ernie and his wife Joy have three children and five grandchildren. They enjoy golfing and relaxing in Hilton Head, SC.

  Katie Guarasci Berry, CIC

  A 10 year veteran in the insurance industry, Katie joined Insurance Agencies of Ohio in 2007 as a Producer/Agent. A Bishop Watterson and Ohio State University graduate, Katie holds the prestigious Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) Designation. She is a member of the Worthington Chamber of Commerce. Katie specializes in personal home and auto insurance, dentists and small commercial accounts. Katie and her husband John and their dog Charlie live in the Worthington area.

  Dan Guarasci, CPCU, AINS

  Dan began his career in the insurance industry in 2006 with Cincinnati Insurance Company. He joined Insurance Agencies of Ohio in 2009 as a Producer/Agent. A Bishop Watterson and Ohio State University graduate, Dan holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in General Insurance (AINS) designations. Dan specializes in personal auto and home insurance, commercial insurance, claims investigations, and risk transfer. Dan is an active Ohio State fan, and plays competitive sand volleyball year round. He is a member of the Ohio Landlord’s Association and Columbus Young Professionals.
